A New Facultative Chemolithotrophic Nitrifying Bacteria: Nitrobacter iranicum sp .v Nov

چکیده
Phenotypic and genetic studies were performed on a Gram-negative, Oxidizing bacterium isolated from soil of a Potato field in Hamadan,Iran. The Cells were 0.4 – 0.5 X 0.8 -1.2μm in size with short rods spindle shaped and polar caps of interacytoplasmic membranes. Carboxissomes were also present .The organism grew chemolithotrophically, hetrotrophically or mixotrophically. It grew at pH range from 6.7 to 8.3 with optimum at 7.6 .The growth rate under hetrotrophic condition is slower than under mixotrophic condition, but faster than under lithotrophic condition. The DNA content was 57mol %. In the absent of oxygen growth was possible by dissimilatory nitrate reduction .The sequence of nearly complete 16S rRNA gene of the strain is recorded in the Gen Bank under number AY578913. Generation times varied from 7to 14houre. The new isolates from the soil were described as a new species of the genus Nitrobacteria,N.iranicum on the basis of their substantial morphological, physiological and genetic differences from the recognized neutrophylic representatives of this genus.

Crude Oil-Degradation and Plasmid Profile of Nitrifying Bacteria Isolated from Oil-Impacted Mangrove Sediment in the Niger Delta of Nigeria
The crude oil degradability and plasmid profile of autotrophic nitrifying bacteria, Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter species, isolated from mangrove sediment in the Niger Delta of Nigeria were studied. The effects of temperature, pH and optical density on the utilization of different carbon sources by the bacteria were also investigated. Results showed that nitrifying bacteria could utilize kerosen...
متن کاملStimulatory Effect of Xenobiotics on Oxidative Electron Transport of Chemolithotrophic Nitrifying Bacteria Used as Biosensing Element
Electron transport chain (ETCh) of ammonium (AOB) and nitrite oxidizing bacteria (NOB) participates in oxidation of ammonium to nitrate (nitrification). Operation of ETCh may be perturbed by a range of water-soluble xenobiotics. Therefore, consortia of nitrifying bacteria may be used as a biosensor to detect water contamination. A surprising feature of this system is an increase of oxygen consu...
متن کاملGenome sequence of the chemolithoautotrophic nitrite-oxidizing bacterium Nitrobacter winogradskyi Nb-255.
The alphaproteobacterium Nitrobacter winogradskyi (ATCC 25391) is a gram-negative facultative chemolithoautotroph capable of extracting energy from the oxidation of nitrite to nitrate. Sequencing and analysis of its genome revealed a single circular chromosome of 3,402,093 bp encoding 3,143 predicted proteins. There were extensive similarities to genes in two alphaproteobacteria, Bradyrhizobium...
متن کاملDraft Genome Sequence of Nitrobacter vulgaris Strain Ab1, a Nitrite-Oxidizing Bacterium
Here, we present the 3.9-Mb draft genome sequence of Nitrobacter vulgaris strain Ab1, which was isolated from a sewage system in Hamburg, Germany. The analysis of its genome sequence will contribute to our knowledge of nitrite-oxidizing bacteria and acyl-homoserine lactone quorum sensing in nitrifying bacteria.
متن کاملAutoradiography and immunofluorescence combined for autecological study of single cell activity with Nitrobacter as a model system.
Specific detection of a particular bacterium by immunofluorescence was combined with estimation of its metabolic activity by autoradiography. The nitrifying bacteria Nitrobacter agilis and N. winogradskyi were used as a model system. Nitrobacter were incubated with NaH14CO3 and 14CO2 prior to study. The same preparations made for autoradiograms were stained with fluorescent antibodies specific ...
